Virginia has passed legislation that requires school divisions to implement Internet safety instruction that is integrated into the school curriculum. Based on guidelines from the Virginia Department of Education, every teacher who uses the Internet with his or her students should include an Internet safety component in the class.

This online course provides teachers the opportunity to become more aware of important issues related to Internet safety for students, be introducted to Internet safety materials from i-SAFE and NetSmartz Workshop, and explore practical strategies for teaching Internet safety to students.

Podcasting is a fascinating technology that engages students. It can be an effective tool for classroom instruction, electronic communication, and student learning.
